Baumann, Richard (1879 - 1928)

German engineer and metallograph with focus on material testing

In particular, he has been concerned with building materials of the steam boiler, and he tried to clarify the effects of processing and the operation of the boiler plates . Of particular concern are his studies of the riveted joints of boiler plates. The steam boiler construction has received valuable suggestions through Baumann's research. Baumann has served as a means of metallography early to locate the causes of damage, and he has maintained and developed this branch of materials testing in a sustainable manner.
