Romanian professor
Handra-Luca Viorel was born on September 11, 1940, Ciulieni, Cluj.
He attended primary school in his native village and high school "Gh.Bariţiu" in Cluj, baccalaureate in 1957.
He graduated Mechanical Faculty of the Polytechnic Institute of Cluj-Napoca (Technical University of Cluj-Napoca), and passed his final exam in 1962.
He obtained a doctorate degree with the thesis "Contributions to the analysis and synthesis of planar articulated mechanisms based on transmission functions" held at the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest in 1970.
He debuted in higher education in 1962 as an assistant, rising through the specific ranks to become professor in 1990.
He was Dean of the Faculty of Mechanics 1990-1992; rector of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca 1992-1996.
He graduated different practice stages and specialization in: IP Bucureşti (1965), Aachen (Germany) from 1977 to 1990, in Padova (Italy) in 1994, in Stuttgart (Germany) in 1994, in London (1994), etc.
He has published numerous papers, articles and textbooks.
He was a correspondent member of the Romanian Academy.
He died on November 6, 2000.
