Marc Birkigt was a Swiss engineer who moved to Barcelona, Spain when he was hired as an engineer by Emilio de la Cuadra. Birkigt was nominated for the Car Engineer of the Century prize for the luxurious Hispano-Suiza H6 car in the 1920s. Hispano-Suiza (literally: "Spanish-Swiss") was a Spanish automotive and engineering firm, best known for its luxury cars and aviation engines inthe pre-World War II period of the twentieth century. The company was founded in 1904 in Barcelona by the swiss mechanical engineer Marc Birkigt and by the spanish Damian Mateu.
