Click to enlargeClick to enlarge Description

Strut 5 turns about fixed axis A and is connected by turning pairs B and C to links 6 and 7 which, in turn, are connected by turning pairs D and E to cylinders 1 and 2. The lengths of the links comply with the conditions: A͞B=A͞C and B͞D=C͞E. When hydraulic fluid is delivered to the right end of cylinder 1 and to the left end of cylinder 2, the former moves to the right and the latter to the left, turning strut 5 of the nose wheel, through links 6 and 7, clockwise. Rods 3 and 4 of pistons b and a are attached to a fixed frame. Fluid from the exhaust ends of the cylinders is discharged to the tank.
