Structure of mechanism |
Function |
The mecanism is an aircraft's principal landing gear system. The landing gear system have a lot of advantages in comparison with classic landing systems. Firstly it is out of the fuselage, even in retracted position. This enable to save important room in the fuselage, for a baggage hold for instance. The landing system is connected to the fuselage, without intermediate parts, that enable the system to be lighter. Moreover, the vertical axe of the wheels, in efficient position, is beyound the fuselage, as a concequence, the wheel base of the aircraft is higher. That enable the plane to have a better stability when taxiing on the runway. And to finish, the fact that wheels are one behind the other, eliminate the whistle due to the air passing between the wheels. It is composed of a support fitted to two traingular parts directly fixed on the fuselage. At the top of the support, two connecting rod are connected and ready to receive the wheels. Thanks to stock absorbers connected between the support and the connecting rod, wheels can have a vertical movement. And to finish, a screw jack fitted between the fuselage and the main support, enable the movement of the system. This system can be composed of an only wheel or a multiple of two wheels. |
