This scale, made by E. Ducretet & Company, has a metal beam whose movement is limited by a stand. There is a pan suspended from each end of the beam. These pans are equipped with hooks on their underside. A long needle attached to the middle of the beam points downwards and moves in front of a small graduated rule.
The scale rests on a tripod, which has a stop screw, to block the beam’s movement, and a spirit level. |
