George Cayley was professor and rector at Cambridge University in the period of 1838-1854 by carrying out an intense activity for teaching and research in several fields of engineering. He was a personality of reference in his time within national frames because of a recognized reputation of his works that still today are considered of fundamental importance in aeronautics engineering as pioneer of aeronautic engineering
