When crank 1 rotates about fixed axis A, slotted link 2 oscillates about fixed axis D. The mechanism is equivalent to four-bar crank and rocker-arm linkage ABCD in which A͞B is the crank, B͞C is the connect ing rod and D͞C is the rocker arm.
