The speeds n₁, n₃ and n₅ of shafts a and b, and carrier5 (in rpm) are related by the equation n₅=(z₃z₄)/(z₃z₄-z₁z₂)n₃-(z₁z₂)/(z₃z₄-z₁z₂)n₁ where z₁, z₂, z₃ and z₄ are the numbers of teeth of gears 1, 2, 3 and 4.
