Beschreibung
Aurel Vlaicul in front of his model Vlaicu I. In 1910, on Cotroceni field, Vlaicu took his plane off the ground. The plane rose to a height of 3-4 m, flying a distance of about 40 m, then landed smoothly. On July 23, 1910, during a new trial, he flew covering a distance of 400 m at a height of 4 m. Finally, a third trial, held on 10 August, resulted in a real success, because the airplane was lifted a few tens of meters, covering a distance of 4 km.
At that time, the device could compare with the best aircraft existing in the world.
In 1910, Aurel Vlaicu obtained the patent EN 2258 for the "flying machine as an arrow-shaped body".
