Engineering School of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU)

The Engineering School of Bilbao , with more than 100 years of history, is one of the most veterans centres of the University of the Basque country (UPV/EHU). Throughout this long existence, its engineers have contributed decisively to the development and progress of industry of the Basque Country, comprising a group of qualified professionals, as evidenced by their extraordinary rates of employment.

History

* 02.04.1897	Bilbao	Promoted by the City Council of Bilbao, the Provincial Council, as well as individual entrepreneurs and technicians, it was established by Royal Decree of April 2, 1897, the Special School of Industrial Engineers.
1899	Bilbao	Lessons of the first class started.
* 1907	Bilbao	Inauguration of the new Electromechanical Laboratory of the School.
1954 - 1957	Bilbao	With Leandro José de Torrontegui as Director, modernization and updating of the School began. This period began with the translation of the Centre from the initial installations of the square of La Casilla to the current Centre of San Mamés.
* 17.03.1958	Bilbao	Inaguration of the Centre of San Mamés.
1970	Bilbao	The Engineering School of Bilbao became part of the university of Bilbao, created two years before.
* 25.02.1980	Bilbao	The University of Bilbao became the University of the Basque Country (EHU/UPV), constituting the public university system of the Basque Autonomous Community.
1997	Bilbao	Celebration of the centenary of the Engineering School.
* 1997	Bilbao	Celebration of the XII National Congress of Mechanical Engineering.
19.04.2005	Bilbao	The official name of the centre changed from "Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales y de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación de Bilbao" to the bilingual name "Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Bilbao / Bilboko Ingeniaritza Goi Eskola Teknikoa".
