Shaft 4 runs in bearing inserts 3. The right-hand insert has bevel a along which wedge block 1 slides with its bevel. Wedge block 1 is held in contact with right-hand insert 3 by means of flat spring 2. Wear of inserts 3 is compensated by the lowering of wedge block 1 due to the action of spring 2. Wedge block 1 cannot rise by itself since angle α is less than the angle of friction.
