Gears 1 and 2 rotate about fixed axes A and B. Gear 1 has teeth a of triangular shape. Gear 2 has recesses b. The number of teeth a equals the number of recesses b. The average transmission ratio in a full cycle is i₁₂=-1. When driving gear 1 rotates continuously at uniform velocity, gear 2 has intermittent rotation with short dwells.
