The DKW was a German manufacturer of cars and motorcycles founded in Chemnitz in 1916 inSassonia. The founder was the Danish engineer Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen who founded a factory to produce steam fittings. In the same year, he attempted to produce a steam-driven car, called the DKW.
