Structure of mechanism |
Function |
The 1517 mechanism is composed of a frame, an eccentric (1), three cranks (2), (3), (4) and a crosshead (5). This mechanism is controlled by the axis through A perpendicular to the plane of the drawing. It leads an eccentric which is link to the crank (2) which itself link with a pivot to the cranks (3) and (4). The third crank is linked to the frame with an axis trough D pivot and the crank (4) is linked to the crosshead with an axis trough E pivot. This crosshead translates in a groove on the frame producing a crosshead guide. Then, in this mechanism crank sizes are constrained: crank size=9*eccentric radius; it means AC=CD=CE=9*AB. According with these ratio of size, the crosshead carry out some little displacement which allow it passing on important efforts. |
