In the initial position (as shown), line AC coincides with axis Ax and is directed to the right, and line BD coincides with axis Ay and is directed downwards. When gear 1 rotates, various points of connecting rods 2 and 3 describe the complex connecting-rod curves shown. The shapes of the curves can be changed by varying the distances A͞C and B͞D.
