Description
Gear 1 and chain sheave a are keyed to shaft A. Gear 1 meshes with planet gears 2 which are rigidly attached to planet gears 3. The planet gears are connected by turning pairs to carrier 5 which is rigidly attached to chain sheave b. Planet gears 3 mesh with fixed internal gear 4. The speeds n₁ and n₅ of gear 1 and carrier 5 (in rpm) are related by the equation n₅=n₁(z₁z₃)/(z₁z₃+z₂z₄) where z₁, z₂, z₃ and z₄ are the numbers of teeth of gears 1, 2, 3 and 4. Thus driven sheave b rotates in the same direction as driving sheave a, over which the hand chain runs, only at a lower speed, and hoists the load with a large mechanical advantage. $2952$CxG,MH$
