Edoardo Amaldi was an Italian physicist working in the field of nuclear physics. For his contributions in this discipline is considered one of the pre-eminent figures of Italian physics in the second half of the 20th century. He was a member of many other international academies including the USSR Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society of London, the National Academy of Sciences of USA and the Royal Academy of Sweden
