When pressure gauge 1 is connected to the vessel in which the
pressure is to be measured, compressed air enters port 2 and
bends membrane 3 upward. This compresses quartz wafers 4,
inducing electric charges on their surfaces. The m agnitude of
the charge indicates the pressure.
