Description
Key 1 turns about knife edge A. Felt-covered hammer 3 turns about fixed axis B. When key 1 is pressed, member 2, turning about fixed axis C, acts with its end on shoulder a of hammer 3 which strikes the corresponding string. At the moment of the blow, key 1 runs against stop e and the left end of the key raises damper 6 from the strings. Damper 6 rests freely on key 1. After striking the string, hammer 3, dropping back, meets stop b with its shank. The hammer rests on stop b the whole time the key is depressed. Stop d keeps member 2 in engagement with shoulder a of hammer 3. By means of tie-rod 5, connected to member 2, spring 4 tends to press member 2 against shoulder a of hammer 3. When the key is released, it drops back and rests freely on stop f. Members 2, 4 and 5 and stop b are all mounted on the key. $487$SL,K$
