Eduardo Torroja y Miret was born in 1899 in Madrid, Spain. He was a constructor and a researcher. He was known as the major world expert on concrete construction.
Eduardo Torroja y Miret was born in Madrid, Spain on August 27th in 1899. From 1917 to 1923 he studied Civil Engineering at the Superior Technical School of Engineering in Madrid. After his studies he started to work in Construcciones Hidráulicas Civiles. He founded an engineering and architecture Studio in Madrid. In 1932 Manuel Sánchez Arcas and he designed the Thermal Plant of the University City of Madrid obtaining the National Architecture Award. In 1933 he designed the Roof of the Mercado de Abastos de Algeciras. In 1934 he founded the Instituto Técnico de la Construcción y la Edificación (Civil Engineering Institution) and the Hormigón y Acero journal. Since 1948 he participated on a myriad of technical and scientific gatherings on Concrete construction. He died on June 15th in 1961.
