Industrialist, founder
Vincenzo Florio was a Sicilian Industrialist of Calabrian origins. He founded several firms and companies; the most important ones were in the shipping field. He moved to palermo when he was very young; there founded the Cantine Florio for the production of Marsala wine. Later, with English partners, founded the Anglo-Sicilian Sulphur Company Limited for the production of the sulphuric acid and by-products of the sulphur. In 1941 founded the first commercial trade Palermo-Napoli with steam ships and in 1962 the first postal service on the same trade.
After him was named the airport of Trapani.
