French mathematician, economist and politician
Dupin dealt with the decomposition and elementarisation of machines to catalogs of easier mechanisms. His research formed a good basis for the production always sophistication of mechanisms and gears, but at the same time showed a tendency to exaggerated ideas of order and questionable distance from the real technical conditions. As a representative application-oriented geometric-constructive teaching machines in the tradition of Monge he focused mainly ship with theory and worked in the field of differential geometry.
