Romanian professor
Iosif Tempea was born in Bucharest on 24.06.1939. In 1956 graduated from the prestigious school in Bucharest “Dimitrie Cantemir” and during 1956-1961 he attended the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest, specialization of Civil Aviation Design.
After graduation in 1961, he was assigned to the Department of Machine Elements and Mechanisms Theory at the Faculty of Transport.
After the emergence of Mechanisms Theory Department-TMM, at the Faculty of Transport, the young assistant Iosif Tempea held here his activity under the guidance of Prof. NI Manolescu, which was also the leader of his PhD thesis. In 1971 he obtained his Ph.D. degree after supporting the thesis entitled "Contributions to numerical and structural synthesis of planar chains with Graph Theory".
Later, as a young university lecturer and Professor Assistant, he conceived works in the scientific field of structure, kinematics, dynamics and synthesis of bar mechanisms, cams and gears.
In 1990 he advances as a professor at the Department TMM. Later he becomes the head of department and occupy this position for 18 years.
Prof. Iosif Tempea has a rich scientific activity as leader of doctoral school and succeeded in conducting a large number of PhD thesis.
Professor Iosif Temple was president of the Romanian Association Theory of Mechanisms and Machines (ARoTMM) during 1997-2001, was director of several research contracts and is highly regarded teacher by students.
