Cinematograph and french inventor.
In 1891, Andre's father (1861-1919) is not only a superb engineer, technological prowess's author, he is also a manufacturer of muted devices followed by audio devices (Super Parvo 16mm projectors) and laboratory equipment, enjoying a great success in the world. Joseph worked as a foreman at the Debrie Boucot workshop, specializing in the manufacture of sheet metal cutting machines. At the request of Lucien Reulos in 1897, Joseph Debrie is choosen to create a machine to perforate the films. At the time, the films is sold unperforated, and due to arriving orders , it allows Joseph Debrie to establish his own business in 1900 at 123 Saint-Maur street in Paris. This punch will be the first of a long line of laboratory equipments, printers, titlers, developer machines, used worldwide for many years. The importance of orders forces Joseph Debrie to transfer his workshops and administrative services at 111-113, Saint-Maur street in 1905. In 1906, at the request of the english Raleigh, who must shot a film about the crossing of Africa, Joseph Debrie charged his son André Debrie to study the design of a lightweight and compact camera. The "Parvo" a revolutionary camera is created two years later. André, unlike his father was an intellectual (he prepared Central and Polytechnique Academy). Soon he put his knowledge to the company of his father. Before André took the management of the company in 1919, he invented and developed all the wonderful materials that made the glory of the french film industry in the world. André began to create cameras based on father's patents at the end of the Second World War, in order to follow the evolution of filming technique. After the death of André Debrie in 1967, the company continues to innovate and even won an academy award in 1980 for developing a continuous immersion printer. In 1992, André Debrie's company merged with CTM. CTM-Debrie society is still active.
