Hölder, Otto (1859 - 1937)

Deutscher Mathematiker

Hölder discovered the Hölder-unequation (1884), the Hölder- continuity, which is important for the theory of partial differential equation, and the Hölder- space. He did fundamental research in relation with group theory. He could verify the uniqueness of factor groups in one line of composition (Jordan- Hölder- Theorem).
