If the numbers of teeth of gears 1 and 2 differ by a small amount, a full cycle of motion of the mechanism will equal a number of revolutions that is the least common multiple of the numbers of teeth of the gears. When driving gear 1 rotates, point A of link 3 describes a complex connecting-rod curve that can be applied for the operation of a grinding attachment mounted on this link.
