Funcţie |
The barometer is housed in a rectangular box, one of whose sides is made of glass. Inside there is a brass cylinder to which a sheet of squared paper is attached. To the side there is a row of aneroid capsules (invented in 1843 by Lucien Vidie). These cylinders are connected to a large needle which traces variations in atmospheric pressure on the squared paper. One week’s data can be recorded before the paper has to be changed. |

Exemple de aplicare |
This device produces a continuous record of the variations in atmospheric pressure.
It was used by future teachers in their studies at the Men's and Women's teacher training schools in Clermont-Ferrand, now the IUFM (University Teacher Training Institute). |
