The plasma wind tunnel Scirocco at the CIRA (Italian Center for the Aerospace researches) was named after Luigi Gerardo Napolitano an Italian Professor who founded important Research Institutes. He is among the best known professors of the faculty of Engineering of the University of Naples outside Italy. He has teached in several universities outside Italy (Berkeley, Sorbone, Poitiers).
