The locksmith Gaul from Erkelenz applied in 1844 a patent for a door lock.
The advantage of the lock over the conventional is that the door knob (handle) is not, as usual, simply inserted into an opening in the lock, and thus usually mounted very shaky, but is stored low backlash on a rigidly connected to the lock hollow cylinder.
Through this hollow cylinder the bitless key is also inserted.
The patent examiner kept the design as not particularly safe and also unnecessarily complicated, but as the novelty criterion was met, they voted for the grant of a patent. |
