Prechtl drafted the education plan of the first "polytechnical department" in Wien. He is considered as one of the famous science organizor of the beginning industrial Age and as the founder of technical school system in the German speaking area. As a representative of the technological school of Vienna he emphasized that it is necessary to connect theoretical and practical knowledge.
