Description
One of the war-machines projected by Arthemon of Clazomenes. He is mentioned by Pliny who says he was by Clazomene and not by Sparta and credits him with the invention of only the testudo. Marius (or Maurus) Servius Honoratus a late 4th-century author of commentaries, credits him with the invention of also the ram. He is also remembered bt Ephorus, greek historian of the IV Century B.C.. Pluterch, instead, thought he lived before Pericles. |
