Antoine LeCoultre was a Switzerland watchmaker and precision mechanics designer. He invented many machines that were as many giant leaps in the field of precision.He created the Millionometer (1844), the first instrument in the history of technologies capable of measuring the micron. In 1847, his “pivoting” winding device was the first system for winding the watch and setting it to time without using a key. He was the founder of Jaeger-LeCoultre brand.
Jaeger-LeCoultre is a high-end luxurywatch and clock manufacturer founded in 1833 by Antonie LeCoultre. In 1833, Antoine LeCoultre founded a smallworkshop in Le Sentier, Switzerland, for the manufacture of high-quality timepieces..In 1851, he was awarded a gold medal for his work on time piece precision and mechanization at the first Universal Exhibition in London. In 1903, Parisian Edmond Jaeger challenged Jacques-David LeCoultre, grandson of Antoine, to manufacture ultra-thin calibers of his design. Out of their relationship emerged a collectionof ultra-thin pocket watches, followed by others that eventually, in 1937, officially culminated in the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand.
