French philosopher, mathematician and physicist

Descartes' realization that the exploration of the natural and the artificial (technical) base on the same principles, led to new and pioneering methodological approaches in the scientific exploration of the world. He proposed the union of empiricism and rationalism. Latter he saw mainly represented in mathematical thinking, because he believed that within the certainty of mathematics could obtain. Descartes was concerned about the geometry of algebraization earned and taken together with Fermat as the creator of the axle geometry.
