Description
Owing to the action of the liquid admitted through port 2, rubber membrane 1, separating the hydraulic and pneumatic chambers, is bent upward, compressing the air and accumulating, in this manner, potential energy in the system. As the accumulator is put into operation, the potential energy of the compressed air is converted into kinetic energy. The accumulator also serves as a buffer for absorbing hydraulic impacts (water hammer) and as a compensating chamber for compensating for the change in volume of the hydraulic fluid in the system. $4127$EHP,FD$
