Structura mecanismului |
| Funcţie |
A metal rod has one of its ends fixed to a column by a screw; the other end slides freely in a second column and presses against a small rod, serrated at its end, which actuates a needle. The latter moves on a graduated dial. Between the two columns there is an open tank into which alcohol is poured. The columns and the legs are made of cast iron. The needle and the screw used to attach the rod are made of brass. When the alcohol is ignited, the metal rod heats up and dilates, gradually pushing the serrated arm and thus moving the needle which indicates by how much the rod has dilated thanks to the graduated dial. |
