Olof Mansson, whose name was latinized in Olaus Magnus, was a humanist, geographer and Catholic Archbishop of Sweden. He is konown for his work “Historia de Gentibus Septentrionalibus” (History of the Northern Peoples). In this volume there are descriptions of machines accompanied by illustrations.
