Romanian professor
Florea Dudiţă was born on 12 apr.1934, Dejeşti, Olt County, graduated Mechanical Institute in Brașov (1954) and Automotive and Tractor Institute in Moscow (1958), was Professor at the Polytechnic Institute Braşov (1959-2009); PhD eng (1966), with the thesis "Contributions to the theory of poly-Cardan transmissions".
In years 1972-1974 he was vice-rector and then rector of the University of Braşov (1974-1984). He published the monographic works "Cardan Transmission" (1966), "Kardangelenkgetriebe" (VDI - Verlag, Dusseldorf, 1973) and "Structural optimization of mechanisms" (1987). In 1969 he lectures at SIA (Society of Automotive Engineers) - Paris and receives the Medal of SIA). During the period 1971-1991 he received a scholarship of the "Alexander von Humboldt Foundation." In 1971 he is elected member of the "Commission for mechanisms Association of German Engineers (VDI)".
Florea Dudiţă is a founding member of the International Federation of Theory of mechanisms and machines (IFToMM). In 1986 and 1989 he was elected Chairman of the Technical Committee of IFToMM’s articulated mechanisms. In 1995 he was elected a corresponding member of the Association of German Engineers (VDI), the first Romanian engineer of 32 members chosen among foreign correspondents. From year 1976 he led 32 PhD theses. In 1992 he received the title of elite inventor (40 patents) granted by Romanian Inventors Society and Inventions Committee of the Romanian Academy.
He is an honorary member of the Romanian Robot Technique Society and Honorary President of the Romanian Association for Theory of mechanisms and machines.
He has published over 150 articles (25 in German, 20 in English, two in French and two in Russian), 40 patents, 14 monographs; his original contributions can be grouped in the following themes:
