The Railway Museum of Madrid was inaugurated in 1984 in the Delicias Train Station (Madrid). En this museum is presented a wide collection of historical material related to trains and their evolution.
The Railway Museum of Madrid was officially inaugurated in 1984 at the old Delicias Train station. The Delicias Station was closed in 1971 and since then, it was used as a train artifacts deposit until 1980. This year, Renfe submitted a request to declare the Delicias Train Station as a historical and artistic monument. In april 29th in 1980 Renfe and the state government agreed to develop the National Train Museum and the restoration of the facilities. This way, from 1980 to 1984 the renovation was done on the train station. In 1982 the Culture Ministry presented a project to restore the train platforms. On December 19th in 1984 the National Train Museum was inaugurated at the old facilities of the Delicias Train Station.
