Eduard de Maristany y Gibert was a Catalan Engineer born in 1855. He made important engineering railway works such as the construction of the Barcelona-Zaragoza line through Caspe (Spain).
Eduard de Maristany y Gibert was born in Barcelona, Spain on December 26th in 1855. In 1881 he graduated as an Engineer and started to work for the Railway Division of the Barcelona State. In 1855 he started to work for the Railway Company of Terragona to Barcelona and France as an construction engineer. Since then he worked in the construction of the Barcelona-Zaragoza line through Caspe which he finished in 1888. He concluded the Argentera Tunnel, one of his major achievements with 4 km long. In 1895 he was named Chief Engineer and collaborated with the Obras Públicas journal submitting important articles. On June 18th in 1918 he was entitled as Marqués de la Argentera. He died on May 5th in 1941.
