DU BOUSQUET, Gaston (1839 - 1910)

French engineer who was Chief of Motive Power (ingénieur en chef traction) of the Chemin de Fer du Nord, designer of locomotives and professor at École centrale de Lille.

Gaston du Bousquet became chief engineer to the traction Company Northern Railway from 1890. He won a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1894. He established cooperation with Glehn Alfred and Edward Beugniot, both working in the service locomotives Company Alsatian engineering. He was president of the Society of Civil Engineers of France in 1894. He introduced the process of double expansion steam ( compounding ) on locomotives industrial network with the help of Alfred Glehn engineer to the Company Alsatian Constructions Mécaniques (SACM).

1890		Création de la locomotive à 4 cylindres.
1890 - 1910		Ingénieur en chef traction à la Compagnie des chemins de fer du Nord.
1894		Médaille d'or à l'Exposition universelle.
1901		Commande de 79 locomotives depuis la création de la locomotive à 4 cylindres.
1902 - 1904		Création de la locomotive « Atlantic Nord ».
1905		Création de la locomotive « Double locomotive tender articulées du Bousquet » utilisant le système Meyer.
1908		Création de la locomotive (série la plus connue) « Ten-Wheel Nord du Bousquet » : 1 exemplaire du premier type à vapeur saturée.
