French inventor.
André Grusenmeyer opened his 20 workers workshop in Uhlwiller. In this workshop he did not just fabricate or repair farm machinery. It was attributed the invention of the harvester, the carousel, the plow-scorer, and other machines. This Combine is still be seen at the museum of bread Uhlwiller. Unfortunately Grusenmeyer did not patent his inventions first but only very late that he was persuaded do it. He filed 21 patents for saws and other machinery. Grusenmeyer left Uhlwiller with his family to settle in Haguenau, where he acquired a small workshop again to continue his inventions, wich he did not made himself, because he was working for the company "Agricultural machinery Kuhn" in Saverne which he sold his patent for little money. In 1867 he moved to Haguenau with his family. At that time the business was going well and he sold his farm machinery throughout France. Until today the memory of the inventor Grusenmeyer has been faithfully preserved to Uhlwiller and the surrounding villages. His son Andrew and Joseph Grusenmeyer also filed patents.
