Austrian mathematician; Blaschke played a decisive role in the development of modern differential geometry

Blaschke was a leading representative of the geometry of his time. He dealt mainly with differential and integral geometry and kinematics. The combination of superior geometric imagination with consistent use of analytical tools allowed him very concise and clear solutions. Blaschke often changed universities and departments and has given numerous guest lectures at home and abroad.
