Spanish engineer, precursor of the techniques and systems of the Enlightenment.
Pedro Bernardo Villarreal de Berriz was an engineer born between the Baroque and the Enlightenment. He worked in forges and mills and he invested what he earned in his industries. He was a man who liked the modern science and its practical application to the useful stuff. With his great activity and lucidity he participated in the birth of the Enlightenment in the Basque Country. He was also mayor of Lekeitio three times.
