For the specified dimensions of the links, point M describes a path which closely approximates a circular arc over its full length. The radius of the arc equals link length M͞C and the centre is at point C. As a result, link O₂C is almost stationary during the whole period of motion of crank O₄F, i.e. it practically has a dwell during the whole period of motion of the mechanism.
