When slider 7 moves along guides p-p, point C describes a conic section with the equation gx²+2hxy+jy²+2mx+2ny+l=0 where g=k*tan(α)(tan(Θ)-tan(β))+tan(α)+tan(β), 2h=k(tan(β)-tan(α)-tan(α)tan(β)tan(Θ)-tan(Θ), j=k(1+tan(β)tan(Θ))+tan(α)+tan(β), 2m=j(k*tan(α)tan(β)-k*tan(α)tan(Θ)-tan(β)-tan(α)), 2n=j(1-k*tan(β)+k*tan(Θ)-tan(α)tan(β)), j=A͞B, k=(A͞B(A͞B+B͞E))/(B͞ExA͞f), l=0. The mechanism is set up for tracing various conic sections by changing angles α and β, and the coefficient k.
