GEAR-CAM SPATIAL COORDINATOR MECHANISM

The mechanism serves to convert rectangular (Cartesian) coordinates into cylindrical coordinates. Link 2 is a conoid with the surface r=H*cot(ε). The intersection of this surface with a plane passing through the axis of the conoid is a straight line. The intersection of the conoid with a plane perpendicular to its axis is a curve with the polar equation: r=cot(ε), where e corresponds to the chosen value of H. Angle ε is entered as the angle of rotation of the conoid, and height H by turning screw 5. The required coordinate r is obtained from the position of rack 7.
