INTERNAL PLANETARY FRICTION WHEEL MECHANISM

Click to enlargeClick to enlarge Description

Carrier 3 rotates about fixed axis A and is connected by turning pairs B and C to two identical planet friction wheels 2 which contact and roll around fixed internal friction wheel 1. The speeds n₂ and n₃ (in rpm) without slippage of wheels 2 and carrier 3 are related by the condition: n₂=-n₃*((R₁-R₂)/R₂) where R₁ and R₂ are the radii of wheels 1 and 2. Two symmetrically located planet wheels 2 balance the dynamic pressure exerted on the bearing of carrier 3.
