Description
Model of a testudo designed by Artemon of Clazomenae was an ancient mechanical military engineer. He is mentioned by Pliny who affirms he was from Clazomenae and ascribes to him the invention of the testudo only. Servius, a Roman grammarian of the IV Century b.C., ascribes to Athenaeus also the invention of the battering ram. |
