Structure of mechanism |
Function |
This device consists of a large brass tube. At one end there is a lens of 16cm diameter (giving a real image of the object), and at the other end there is the eyepiece (which acts on the image like a magnifying glass). A knob on the right-hand side is used to adjust the sharpness of the image by moving the eyepiece. On the left-hand side of the device there is another small telescope with a wider angle of view, called the finder. The instrument is attached via a horizontal bolt to a brass rod, itself fixed to a cast-iron tripod. |
